Dr. Brian Prebil, Board Certified General Surgeon

Brian Prebil, DO, is a board-certified general surgeon leading the team at the Center for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery in Peoria, Arizona.

A graduate of Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California, he completed his surgical internship and general surgery residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Upon completion of his surgical training, he entered private practice and has been in practice for 16 years. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Prebil served as the Chairman of Surgery at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center on three separate occasions and was the Surgical representative for Banner Surgicenter for 10 consecutive years.

Dr. Prebil was trained on the da VinciⓇ robotic surgical system in 2012. He is one of the most experienced robotic general surgeons in the United States and has done almost 2000 robotic general surgery cases. Along with his peers at the Center for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery/Hernia Center of Arizona, he has developed many of the robotic surgical techniques used by national and international surgeons. He is co-director of CMIRS/HCA and runs one of the few da Vinci Robotic General Surgery Epicenters in the United States.

Believing that robotic surgery changes the scope of surgery for the patient and the surgeon, Dr. Prebil shares that the da Vinci robotic surgical system “allows surgery that was once limited to an open procedure to be done minimally invasive, with better precision, better technique, less pain, and faster patient recovery.” This leads to a better patient experience and a quicker return to work and life.

With a commitment to educate and pass on surgical knowledge and techniques to upcoming practitioners, Dr. Prebil serves as a Faculty Member/Attending Surgeon at the Creighton University School of Medicine/Maricopa Medical Center General Surgery Residency Training program and Core Faculty at the Abrazo Healthcare Network Surgery Residency Program. He educates medical students as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at Midwestern University Medical School.

As a consultant with Intuitive Surgical and Bard Medical, he hosts and educates national and international surgeons in case observations, hernia courses and proctoring surgeons in surgical techniques developed at CMIRS/HCA. He is also an Attending Staff Surgeon at the Phoenix VA Healthcare System, giving back to America’s Veterans.

Outside of his surgical practice, Dr. Prebil is a dedicated husband, and father to three wonderful children. He stays active with Ironman Triathlons, skiing, and traveling.
